NE1617A and NE1619 device highlight

Introduction
The NE161x series of temperature sensors is intended for use in personal computers where thermal monitoring of hardware and electrical components is critical. These devices are capable of measuring the internal temperature of microprocessors that incorporate an embedded diode. These sensors also incorporate an embedded diode of their own to monitor internal temperatures. The associated devices can communicate over a standard two-wire serial interface using the SCLK and SDATA pins of the temperature sensor. These devices employ four SMBus protocols: Write Byte, Read Byte, Send Byte, and Receive Byte. The NE1617A and NE1619 are configured as slaves on the SMBus system. The external master microrocessor is responsible for initiating start, stop, and clock signals for SMBus communications. Data is serially transmitted in groups of 9 bits using 9 clock pulses, including an 8-bit data byte followed by a 1-bit acknowledgement.

NE1617A Temperature Monitor for Microprocessor Systems

The NE1617A is an accurate, two-channel, temperature monitor that is capable of measuring its internal sensor and a remote sensor. The remote sensor may be a diode, connected transistor. The temperature of both the remote and local (internal) sensors is stored in a register that can read via the I2C-bus. The sensor has a programmable alarm and can be placed in a standby mode to save power. The NE1617A is a drop-in replacement for the MAX1617 and ADM1021. It has ±2oC local and ±3oC remote sensor temperature accuracy. It is available in a 16-lead SSOP package.

NE1619 HECETA 4 Temperature and Voltage Monitor

The NE1619 is a HECETA 4 temperature and voltage monitor and has evolved beyond the NE1617A and the previously-offered NE1618. This device is able to monitor temperature and supply voltages, both internal and remote. It provides five analog inputs, a remote temp sensor with ±3oC accuracy and an internal temp sensor with ±2oC accuracy. The device also monitors its own power supply and provides digital inputs for the Pentium/PRO power supply ID code. The NE1619 allows monitoring of different power supplies, such as 12V, 5V, 3.3V, 2.5V, VCCP, and VDD. It uses a conversion data rate of approximately 500ms. Two devices may function on a single bus. The NE1619 is pin-for-pin compatible with the ADM1025. It is available in an SSOP16.
