I2C A/D or D/A convertersIntroduction
It is frequently required to record analog information, such as temperature, pressure, battery level, signal strength, etc.
The analog voltage information from the diode, pressure sensor, transducer, etc., needs to be converted to digital 1s and 0s (ADC) so that the information can be processed by a microcontroller and subsequently displayed, used to control contracts, switches, relay, etc.
Conversion from digital 1s and 0s to analog voltages (DAC) is also useful for applications like LCD contrast control.
I2C A/D or D/A converters provide an easy way to convert between digital and analog signals and send the information via the I2C.
Features
The PCF8591 is capable of converting four different analog voltages to digital values for transmission on the I2C-bus/processing by the microcontroller.
The PCF8591 can also generate one analog voltage output by converting an 8-bit digital value transmitted by the microcontroller.
